We’re hiring – Open Arms Youth Worker

Posted: 6th June 2024

We’re looking for a passionate and committed Youth Worker to support our Opens Arms sessions for young refugees and unaccompanied asylum seekers.

Can you develop engaging activities for young people aged 13 – 21 years who have recently arrived in the UK?

Are you compassionate, kind and inclusivity focused and can build positive, professional relationships to create a fun and safe environment for these young people to socialise and learn?

We are looking for someone with the skills to plan activities, both independently and with participating young people, and can ensure all participants have a contribution to the creative process and decision-making.

Our Open Arms sessions take place every Friday from 5 – 7:30pm. We cook food from participants’ home countries, including cuisines from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Kurdistan, Syria, and more. Other activities include local trips such as bowling, arts & creative games, music, board games, football, table tennis, pool, life skills and cooking skills. In addition to the sessions, Open Arms has been
commissioned to create its own cookbook, collecting together the recipes and stories about food
and cooking that our young people have shared during the Open Arms sessions.
